| Revised Guidance: No Cross-Selling during MA, PDP Sales Appointments Due to updated guidance provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), we have revised our position regarding the cross-selling of insurance products during scheduled Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan appointments. Effective immediately, no other insurance products may be presented at any point during an MA / PDP / Medicare Supplement appointment, including Senior Dental and cancer coverage. Clients requesting information on these products will need to schedule another appointment to be held at least 48 hours after the Medicare presentation, in accordance with CMS's 48 hour 'cooling-off' rule. Under this guidance, there should be no cross-selling of any other type of insurance product during an MA or PDP presentation, with the exception of Medicare Supplement. This includes non-health coverage such as life insurance or annuities, as well as the Hospital Indemnity product. As a reminder, agents are always required to obtain Scope of Appointment documentation (completed Scope of Appointment form or recorded telephone appointment confirmation) prior to the initial MA/PDP appointment. Click here for full instructions as well as the Scope of Appointment form. |
